ENGAGE in Gratitude!

Check it out!  My latest design.

I love to focus on the positive things in life!  I have joined the Gratitude and Generosity Series with Tiffany Peterson for the 3rd year in a row and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! (you really should join – it’s FREE and you will be a better person)

For a long time we would ask questions at dinner time…   What good thing happened today? What bad thing happened today? and What are you grateful for?

Life happens and it’s not always easy to remember to do it.

Then I had a brilliant idea!  What if I used the restaurant “buy this dessert/drink” idea and had something nice on the table to remind us.

This is what my inspiration turned into:

What was most important that I wanted to cover…?

Well… I believe in finding the good in every situation.  For example.  The other day, my son touched a hot burner and burned 2 of his fingers. He is a big kid and it was just an accident.  I could tell it really hurt.  As I was sitting on the bathroom floor comforting him, I said, “I know it hurts, but let’s see what we can be grateful for.”  He says “I don’t see anything!”  I pointed out that I was grateful for..

  • It was only 2 fingers and not his whole hand.
  • It was a minor burn
  • We had Lavender oil on hand to help it heal quickly and relieve the pain.  (contact me if you would like to learn more about how to use essential oils to bless your family)
  • He has quick reflexes

After the pain subsided, he said:  “I got it!  It’s my writing hand! I’m grateful I don’t have to do my writing now!” (so he texted me his journal entry)

I love it when my children engage in beginning to see the good in every situation.

I came up with:

1- Focus on Gratitude, see the good.

2- Feel successful – recognize all the good things you do  (even if it is “I got out of bed” or “I smiled”- My desire is for everyone to feel successful, everyday)

3- Serve Others, Be Generous, Make it a point to reach out

This darling printable folds into a triangle and sits on your table.

It’s been fun using it at my house.  Everyone knows that when we sit down to family dinner that we will all get a turn to share, to be heard and we are more aware and prepared with something to share.  Mostly we do it automatically, but it’s nice to recognize and acknowledge all the blessings in our life.

I hope you will print one out for your family, office, restaurant, desk, etc… and spark some quality conversations this holiday season!
