I have found so much peace and confidence in my life in the past 6 years and it began with my discovery of essential oils and a commitment to myself to care for my family naturally. My desire is to share some stories with you today that will help you know that you can do it too.
STORY TIME
Let’s begin back in 2005. My daughter was learning to walk. She was doing good and conquering the stairs. On her way to the basement, about 2 stairs from the bottom, she fell on her head. It’s wasn’t a big fall, but she went limp and was acting a bit weird. As new parents, we panicked just a bit and called 911 to make sure she was okay. She was fine, but as a result, we were all a bit shaken up. How would you react?
Time went on and we had boys… 4 of them. One day my sleepy boy fell asleep on a kitchen stool. I thought “I should go get him off” but decided to do one more thing before I went back downstairs. CRASH! I took off running down the stairs! He had fallen and his head collided with the kitchen tile. This was one of those moments I had a prompting, and ignored it. IMPORTANT LESSON LEARNED! I try to be more quick to obey those inspired thoughts.
Another time, a different son jumped onto a beanbag chair and didn’t quite make it. Gooseggs can be HUGE! Each time we called the ambulance to have them checked out. I am blessed that none required transport. That is one experience I hope to never have.
Bumps, bruises, large goose eggs… “keep them awake”, “let them rest”…. tears… reminding yourself to breathe…. an excess of gratitude that your children are alive. It seemed 1-2x/ year we called 911 call just to make sure everyone was okay.
Enter… ESSENTIAL OILS!
In 2011, I was introduced to the world of essential oils… little did I know the journey it would take me on and the life of joy, fulfillment and purpose I would create.
I learned how essential oils support the body in functioning properly and healing rapidly.
Let me share a couple more experiences for experience is a great teacher.
Back in 2012 my 2 year old was jumping on a mini trampoline out on the patio. It was the kind with the net around it… but the net was gone. I walked in the house to grab something and I hear SCREAMING! I run back outside to find blood gushing from his face. He had fallen down on the exposed rusted pipe where the net attached. It had gashed open his chin. Not just a little cut, but all the way through… it was DEEP. Fat chunks were coming out. (Confession: I did have a moment of weakness where I could have passed out had I dwelled in it.) I took a breath and knew I needed to help. This was a chance to test all I have learned.
Life EMPOWERED
This time, I was empowered with the tools and knowledge I needed.
I ran outside and flipped him upside down while calling to my 8yr old “Grab the HELICHRYSUM!” (essential oil)
She ran and got it. (I’m so glad I talked to my kids about what I was doing and why! They know how to help!)
We held pressure on it with tissue and applied helichrysum several times. Within seconds, the bleeding was stopping.
I used an essential oil GROUNDING BLEND to help us remain calm.
The bleeding stopped.
Oh! I am so grateful I had my essential oils! (and I knew how to use them!)
We were blessed to have a neighbor with the skill of stitches…. He was super brave.
I use Melaleuca and Lavender essential oils to help with pain and avoid infection. Helichrysum essential oil to speed healing… It healed so fast that it was growing over the stitches.
In the past, I would have freaked out, called 911, rushed to the doctor, and probably gotten a shot because it was rusty. I would have spent many of hours, hundreds or thousands of dollars, and too much time worrying. Then gone back for checkup and having the stitches removed.
I DID NONE OF IT!
With the exception of doing the stitching, I did it all myself.
We Have Options
Medical Professionals are fabulous. I am so glad they are here to help us. I am more blessed to know that with our intuition, tools and training that we care care for most things ourselves.
What did I do to remove the stitches?
I’m glad you asked!
While he slept, I used some CLOVE oil to numb the skin then a tiny pair of scissors and tweezers to remove the stitches. EASY PEASY!
WOW!! Did I feel empowered! I wasn’t helpless. Solutions were at my fingertips. I didn’t depend on anyone else. I had what I needed in my home and I KNEW how to use it! My time calmly snuggling my boy was a special moment instead of frantically running to the ER.
I’m happy to report that he is happy and healthy and you cannot even tell by looking at him.
The Helichrysum helped the scar tissue breakup and I used another blend to reduce scarring. (The scar is gone!)
