HOW TO INSPIRE YOUR KIDS TO CLEAN THE KITCHEN
Let’s face it, being a parent isn’t always easy. You are responsible to teaching these little people all the things they need to know to be successful adults. That is a big job.
I used to say “clean the kitchen” or “do the dishes” then find the job only half done.
I realized that I needed to empower my kids with the tools and system to help them be successful. My idea of a clean kitchen and theirs were two different things. If they didn’t know how to do it, then I didn’t need to be frustrated. I needed to teach them.
I’ve had many people ask how I do it and want a copy of my system… so here is a quick overview and printable for you!
I can literally give my kids the list, go take a shower and come back to a clean kitchen. (Reality is that it is not always so smooth, but I love the days it is.)

TIPS FOR SUCCESS
- Teach them how the system works
- Do it with them a few times (or every time, depending on ages)
- Have them refer to the list for what it is next (to learn independence and not to ask you for everything)
- Have some upbeat happy music on (cleaning is much more fun with singing and dancing)
- Celebrate big when they do a great job (treat, game, surprise). “Let’s set a timer for 15min then when it’s done, we can go to the park!”
- Try it as a challenge… “Let’s see if we can beat the record for how quick we can do it?”
- Diffuse Essential Oils to wake up the mind, uplift mood and inspire cooperation (peppermint, wild orange, lemon, etc..) – bonus if you let the kids pick the smell 🙂
- When someone is feeling overwhelm, my good friend ToriAnn has this mantra that I love. Repeat over and over “This is Simple. This is Easy. This is Fun.”
I’d love to hear how it goes for you!
