What do you do when you see the warning flashing on the dashboard of your car?
What I used to do is very different from what I do now. Read on…

A few days ago, I was driving through a canyon at night- in a rainstorm. Suddenly this little yellow triangle with an exclamation point started flashing on my dashboard.
Now, in the past (like a decade ago), I would have felt my heart racing, worry filling my mind of all the things that could be wrong, and thoughts of “not now” “what did I do or forget to do?”
My reactions now are so different. It’s “hmmm… that’s interesting”, “Pray for angels”, “God’s got us”, “What can I learn from this”. I had my son with me and we had picked up a bunch of food for our trip. We talked about what a memory we would make if we ended up stranded and waiting for a tow truck and having a picnic in the van.
I tried to ignore it, but it came back and the car acted strangely. We pulled over and checked the manual. I didn’t see anything. We said a prayer and kept going.
A few minutes later it happened again. I asked him to check the manual again. Apparently, he is much better at navigating car manuals than I am.
He discovered it was a notification that the Vehicle Stabilization was activated because of the slippery roads.
Turns out there was no danger at all! The car was trying to keep ups safe!
Then I found the lesson…
My mind just works this way, I see lessons, life principles, and how I can teach important truths in everything around me. I’m just not always great at taking the time to sit and write them.
I was pondering on how this happens at times in our life… We have an experience or avoid an experience because we feel fear, worry, or anxiousness.
Truth is… sometimes it’s just our body trying to keep us safe and comfortable – just like my car was trying to keep me safe.
Here are some ideas of situations in life:
- Talking to someone & knowing what to say
- Setting a boundary
- Having a hard conversation
- Ask for forgiveness
- Apologizing when you acted out of alignment with who you want to be
- Offering forgiveness
- Doing deep healing work
- Speaking up for truth
- Starting that business in your heart
- Taking the next inspired step when you don’t see the end
- Planting seeds that take time to grow
- Showing up day after day, even when you don’t feel like it
Sometimes our warning lights are the discomfort of knowing our life is not reflecting the person we want to be.
I like to call this Divine Discomfort. It’s the calling to be different and the tugging at your soul – knowing it’s time to shift something. These moments are important for our progress.
Ask yourself, “What am I to learn from this?” “What is my next step?” etc..
What about you?
What is the thing showing up in your life as worry and discomfort that you are called to walk through in this season?
As you go forward in faith, I testify that doors open, windows open, and miracles happen. God is good.
What support do you need to move forward?
