A Tale of a Mother’s ‘First Day of School’ [p1]

A Tale of a Mother’s ‘First Day of School’ [p1]

Have you ever wished you could have a peek into what a day looks like for someone else?

Well, today I felt that that was just what I get to share.

All the learning, and growing, and teaching we do… is ultimately to BECOME WHO WE ARE, not just something we do. I hope that you will have an open mind and heart and see what God has for you in this season of your life.

Direct from my journal:

5:30am my alarm goes off.  I hit snooze quickly to not wake my husband too early.  It goes off again.  I unplug my phone and plug in my AirPods to charge.  It goes off again. I put one AirPod in my ear and turn on my declarations because I understand the power of your mind and using the time between sleep and wake to program your subconscious to support you in your goals and desires.  This fortifies my spirit and starts my day off right.  6am and time to get up.  Today I leave my declarations and vision story on repeat as I get ready.  Some mornings I switch to my power up playlist and the vibration and lyrics of the songs lift me.

I use the bathroom, brush my teeth with my OnGuard toothpaste (for it’s great taste, and teeth strengthening), wash my face with my doterra cleanser (it feels fresh and has essential oils that keep my skin clear while waking me up joyfully).  A quick water spritz to my curls and some Yarrow|Pom with Fractionated Coconut oil  on my face (for moisture and skin strengthening).  Deep blue stick relaxed the muscles in my back/neck.  I love my few morning bathroom stretches.  I put on my exercise pants and one of my favorite tees.  I find that if I’m dressed to exercise, it’s way easier to do it and I love it!

A quick 5 minute ride on the exercise bike in the hallway.  I open the window in the office to let the cool morning air in.

6:15am – make sure my high schooler is conscious.  He is.  I’m grateful for his responsibility.  I take my keyboard and calendar downstairs and start a water pot to boil. (I set it out last night with oatmeal ready to go to make it easy and not wake my son who sleeps on the couch).  I fold the laundry in the dryer and put it away.

Downstairs I put away all the clean dishes. Start the oatmeal to cook. Set shoes out for my son (just to show I love him – he gets them himself everyday).  I have a short devotional, hug, and a prayer with him.  6:40am we take the porch picture (mom pays for school- she gets a picture 🙂 of course!). He walks to the bus.

6:45am- Wake Jr High kids.  one is nearly ready already.  The other gets up quickly.  Prayers, hugs, devotional again.  Apply some Adaptiv to the spine to help with nerves and reminders that angels go with you and Jesus is always there for help.  Porch photos. More willing participants.  They are off on their bikes as they ride into the sunrise.

Dad comes down. He is a teacher. Off to school for him too.  Gluten Free oatmeal with brown sugar awaits.   Mornings can be rough and food with allergies isn’t a picnic.  Today is going well. I hope I can keep this up all year.   I get a photo of dad- with slight participation and annoyance. The dog sits on the rug in front of the door.  He saw 3 kids leave already and he knows what is happening. He is not happy with this.

7:15am – Elementary child is already up and excited.  We have an hour before we leave.  We walk the dog, I eat granola while we play a game of go fish.  Appreciate kids who check in when they are safe at school and pray for angels to help those feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the chaos school brings.

8:05am- porch pictures,  We bike to school together.  A bit of nervousness is underlying.  Happy we remembered the Adaptiv before we left. This is a big year, to be the only sibling in the school when you have always had someone else with you.  We are finding the good and making memories in the moments.  A hug at the fence. He locks up his bike on the rack and goes in for school breakfast.  I take my blanket and sit on the hill with my keyboard to write in my journal.

My children are growing and off to another year of learning at school.  I miss homeschooling. I love being with them.  I know that this season is right and we are all just where we need to be.

God has big things on my heart and I work as efficiently as possible while they are at school so I can be fully present while they are home.

Elementary kids are going in now. The foot traffic is less and I will soon be biking home to do my work.

My oldest is starting college next week.  I’m definitely not old yet and it’s a strange phase to be letting go and watching your children learn to adult without your help.  Tomorrow we go on an adventure together on the city bus so there is comfort when my car is not available to get to campus.

A prayer and scripture time for me.  My Primary Lesson is in Psalms. “Let Every Thing That Hath Breath Praise the Lord”

9:10 am- Time to go.  Power music in my ears so I can sing and praise God as I ride home.

To Be Continued…
